http://fitsmallbusiness.com/radio-advertising-costs/

I did my post on radio advertising, With 93% of people listening to the radio it is a smart way to advertise. It is more affordable to go through radio advertising then paying for an AD to be created, or a commercial, and trying to fit into TV time.

Things that impact the cost of radio advertising.

- How many people listen in to that radio station.
- The demographic.
- Negotiation, you can usually talk them down about 20-40%.
- The competition.

I did this weeks post on conveying messages through advertisements. I took two videos in one you will notice that it is heavily narrated while the second video allows the video clips from the movie to tell its own story. These are two different ways to communicate a message to an audience through images, narration, sound. You will notice that this tactic is used in commercials today as well.

In 1929 Lucky Strike marketed to women.

Lucky Strike sought a motive for the female market to smoke. In doing so, the American Tobacco Co. took on an unlikely competitor: candy. The brand's campaign encouraged women to "Reach for a Lucky instead of a sweet." The National Confectioners Association launched anti-smoking literature in response. The industry rivalries led the FTC to investigate. To fight back, American Tobacco allocated $12.3 million for advertising, an unprecedented amount in 1929, equal to more than $155 million today. Despite great effort, the FTC banned the idea of marketing cigarettes as a weight-loss aid and Lucky Strike amended its campaign to the more innocuous, "Reach for a Lucky instead."

I liked this AD because it draws the person in who is watching and makes them want to continue watching to find out what happens.

I wanted to do my post on youtubers and how they turned their youtube channels into a place to make some serious money. One of the highest paid you tubers of 2016 had been PewDiePie or Felix Kjellberg with 15 million dollars and 49,756,391 and one of the lowest paid you tubers being the average you tuber who has just a couple of followers, one being there mom, and are making around zero dollars and zero cents off of their channel. The real question is how do you tubers turn their accounts into millions, well after some research I learned that only a small portion of that money actually comes from youtube. Most of the money these youtube stars make is from sponsoring, including advertising in their videos, selling merchandise, and going to fan meet and greets, books, podcasts, and their fame that can lead to other job oppertunitys. So what I learned was that the world of youtube is not where you make your money, but where the rare few have found their fame through youtube that has led to the opportunity and access to marketing deals through advertising, sponsoring and overall the access to making a ton of money.

chapter 3

I decided to do my post on a new form of advertising,Advertising through Instagram. If you don't know what Instagram is, it is a free photo sharing social media platform that is owned by facebook. Recently they have authorized advertising on their platform allowing companies to advertise on instagram that when tapped on the instagram app will direct you to the website. If a company lists a particular product photo when you press the photo it will link you directly to the website and the item listed. With an average of 84% of people comparing products they buy online this is opening up a new way to quick and comparative shopping.

Here is my link to instagrams new plan of instagram advertising.

Product placement is when manufacturers of goods or providers of a service gain exposure for they products by paying them to be featured in movies and television programs. A great example of product placement is Back to the Future. In back to the future you see the main character Marty drink from pepsi, sport a new pair of nike self lacing shoes, read from a USA Today newspaper and stop by a Texaco. Without even realizing it you're being exposed as a view to a form of marketing tactic. Product placement can also have benefits even after a film is complete, for example even years after the filming and completetion of Back to the future pepsi sought out to reel in fans by releasing a limited time pepsi bottle in a futuristic pneumatic tube as shown in the back to future movie when Marty goes to the future. So on October 21st 2015 as shown in the movie they released the 6,500 of the bottles selling them for $20.15 a bottle. Even the pricing is drawn from the movie. So there you have it, that is a little bit of product placement for you.

here is a link to an article written by USA Today I used for most of my additional pepsi information that talks even more about the product placement between pepsi and back to the future.
